EureKan is a Kanban board, a personal organiser, a project manager, a task tracker, a report generator, an audit trail, a reminder system, and a break-time arcade game — all in a single HTML file just over 940 kilobytes in size.
To put that in perspective: the average webpage today is around 2.5 megabytes just to display a news article. EureKan is a third of that, contains a complete productivity application with 27 documented features, an embedded 80-kilobyte arcade game, a full illustrated user manual, and it works without the internet, without a server, and without a single external dependency.
That is not an accident. It is a design principle.

WHY EUREKAN IS UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE YOU HAVE TRIED
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Every productivity tool in the market today — Trello, Asana, Monday.com, ClickUp, Notion — is built around the same invisible assumption: that your data belongs on their servers, your access depends on their infrastructure, your workflow must fit their update cycle, and your continued use requires your ongoing payment.
At the Standard tier, Trello costs $5 per user per month. Asana starts at $10.99. Monday.com requires a minimum of three seats at $12 each — $36 per month before you have done a single thing. A 10-person team on Asana Starter pays over $1,600 per year. A 10-person team on Monday.com Standard pays over $1,440. And that is before Power-Up subscriptions, integration fees, API costs, and the quiet "upgrade to unlock this feature" prompts that appear the moment your workflow outgrows the tier you are on.
EureKan costs nothing. Not now, not next year, not ever, for personal use. There is no upgrade. There is no tier. There is no feature locked behind a paywall. Everything is in the file you just downloaded.
● No account to create.
● No password to set to get access to it.
● No credit card — not even to "start your free trial".
● No software to install.
● No administrator permissions required to setup your own boards.
● No operating system requirement beyond a modern web browser.
● No servers storing your data.
● No company with access to your information.
● No subscriptions. No renewals. No price increases.

COMPLETELY SAFE BY DESIGN — NOT BY PROMISE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Most software safety relies on trust: you trust the company to protect your data, to not sell it, to maintain their servers securely, and to notify you if something goes wrong.
EureKan requires no such trust. It is a plain HTML file. It contains no executable program, no installer, no background process, and no network connection. It cannot phone home because there is no home to phone. It cannot send your data anywhere because it has no mechanism to do so. Your browser opens it exactly as it opens a webpage — but unlike a webpage, it makes no requests to the outside world.
This means it is immune to the entire category of threats that affect cloud software: data breaches, server outages, account takeovers, phishing through fake login pages, session hijacking, and the sudden "we are shutting down" email that has ended many a team's relationship with a beloved tool.
Your board lives in your browser. Your backup lives in a file on your computer. Both are entirely under your control.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
IT RUNS EVERYWHERE — BECAUSE IT NEEDS NOTHING
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, a Raspberry Pi, a decade-old laptop — if it has a browser, it runs EureKan. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari — any of them, any version from the last five years, will open it without modification.
This matters more than it sounds. Enterprise software often runs only on specific operating systems or requires specific versions. Mobile-first tools often lose half their features on desktop. Desktop-first tools are often completely unusable on a tablet. EureKan works the same way on all of them because it is a webpage — the single most portable format in the history of computing.
You can carry your entire board on a USB stick. You can email it to a colleague. You can keep five separate copies for five separate projects in five separate folders. Each one is independent, self-contained, and complete. Everythng you manage you can back them up at all times and restore them at any time should that is what youn wish for whatever reason and much much more!

WHAT EUREKAN ACTUALLY DOES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Behind its elegant simplicity, EureKan is a sophisticated tool:
► A full Kanban board with six columns (Backlog, To Do, Doing, Testing, Done, Archived) and drag-and-drop between all of them.
► Five signal LEDs that pulse when your attention is needed — tickets due soon, tickets overdue, tickets that have been blocked too long, tickets stuck in the same column for too long, and your WIP limits. Every LED is clickable and instantly filters your board to the relevant tickets.
► A Global Search that scans every field of every ticket across all six columns, including Done and Archived, and returns highlighted results in under a second.
► Ticket templates — 18 built-in blueprints for common tasks, and unlimited custom templates you build yourself.
► A full Audit Trail that compares any two backup snapshots and generates a human-readable report of every change made to the board between those two points. You may also share your progress with your team members during a stand-up meeting or a remore call session like a breeze.
► Recurring tickets, reminders, a countdown timer, a weather widget, an MP3 player for your own music, a screen lock with password protection, analytics, a report manager that exports to PDF and CSV, an email Notify function, and a Kanban Priority Scorecard.
► An embedded user manual — 27 sections covering every feature — that lives inside the application. No internet connection needed to read it.
► And yes 😀, a full arcade game (Crystalline Cascade) for when you need a two-minute break without leaving your board.

A WORD ABOUT WHY IT EXISTS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
My name is Chris (or Christos - Χρήστος). I am a senior project manager with over two decades of experience in financial technology and payments — the world of regulatory compliance, API integrations, and multi-stakeholder programmes where clarity is not optional and disorganisation is not forgiven.
I built EureKan to manage my own life — specifically, my holiday villas on the Greek island of Aegina, where the gap between "things I intended to do" and "things I actually tracked properly" was quietly costing me time, money, and peace of mind to say the least.
The name is intentional. Eureka — from the ancient Greek εὕρηκα, the word Archimedes shouted when the answer arrived not through complexity but through elegant simplicity — combined with Kanban, the Japanese discipline of making work visible, limiting what is in progress, and letting tasks flow harmoniously from idea to completion. Together they represent a conviction: that the best system for organising your life is the one that gets out of your way and tells you the truth.
I am sharing EureKan freely because I believe that clarity and organisation should not cost $10 per user per month. They should be available to anyone with a browser and twenty minutes to set up their first board.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
YOUR NEXT FIVE STEPS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
1. Open the downloaded rtf document and double click to the attached zip file. Open EureKan_QuickStart_Guide.html — read it in five minutes, start in ten.
2. Open EureKan.html — your board opens with 8 demo tickets already in place.
3. Click OK on the welcome message to see your board.
4. Click ❓ in the header to open the embedded User Manual whenever you need it.
5. When you are ready, delete the demo tickets and make it your own.
That is the whole process. There is nothing else. It sounds unbelievable, isn't it?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ONE IMPORTANT REMINDER
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
EureKan stores your board data in your browser's memory (localStorage). This means it is fast, private, and requires nothing from the internet — but it also means that if you clear your browser's data, your board goes with it. Please use the built-in Backup function (Ctrl+B) regularly to save a copy of your board to your computer as a JSON file. Think of it as pressing Save in a word processor. Once a week is more than enough for most people.
I genuinely hope EureKan gives you back some time — the kind you spend on the things and the people that matter most.
If you have a question, a thought, or just want to share how you are using it, reply to this email directly. I read every message personally.
Warm regards,
Chris
